Big Brother is Watching You
Kudos to Mike She for throwing a pretty good house party on Saturday. Fun was had by all. For those of you who don't know him, Mike goes to UW for CS and almost always has the latest and greatest electronic gadgets. Mike has this digital camera and he's contstantly snapping pictures and posting them on his website (which btw, is also quite impressive). It was kind of interesting at his party because I was walking around and meeting some of his friends and it was like, "Hey! I recognize you. You're on Mike's website."

I'm also starting to read 1984. I've just always wanted to read it and it's such a classic. Although I've only read about 15 pages so far, I can tell it's going to be good.

Work
I finished my second day of work today and it's been pretty good so far. I really like the people. There are about 11 other co-ops there and each one of them seems really nice and interesting. We're all housed in one big room that I call the "co-op barn". I thought it was pretty ghetto at first, but it's a surprisingly good work environment. It was a bit of an adjustment for me because I've never worked anywhere besides IBM. The fact that I got a badass black IBM PC with the IBM scroll mouse that I like is really nice though. : )

It's a fairly small company - less than 100 people. It's really fast moving and the technology that they're working with is really interesting cutting edge stuff.

The first day, I was walking through the halls and I saw the CEO: Tom Sweeney. He's a really charismatic and bright guy. He's actually a former fighter pilot. I was a bit surprised at first because I kind of expected him to be inaccessible; small companies have their advantages I guess. Then he really surprised me by saying, "Hey Jason, how are you doing?" Before that, I'd never seen him, been introduced to him, or anything, yet he knew my name!
"Pretty good Tom. And yourself?"
I admit, my mind was racing. How did he know who I was? Maybe I made a really good impression during the orientation. Maybe I did such a good job during my interview that the recruiters decided to tell him about this co-op who they thought was going to be a superstar. Maybe he ... then it hits me. I'm wearing a name tag! What a doofus I am. Whatever. Back to the co-op barn.
