Victory
My sister's dragon boat team kicked ass at the Toronto International Dragon Boat Festival . They finished first in the community division. Congratulations Crimson Tide!

By the way, a message board is in the works. Details soon.
Who likes fast cars? BMW Films: short films featuring high speed car chases directed by famous directors (Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie).

Why Wendy?! Why?!
Hi people, a few things happened last week that I wanted to post, but I forgot. I went down to the lakeshore last Tuesday and watched my sister dragon boat. Her team, the Crimson Tide, looked really good. They're going to be racing at Centre Island in two weeks.

I was supposed to go to Summerfest this weekend. For those of you who don't know, Summerfest is this big two day party they have at the University of Waterloo during the summer (I was only going for one day though). What ends up happening is I get up to Waterloo and decide to have dinner with Christine and Victor. We were really running behind schedule though so we decide to get some fast food at Wendy's. Not a good idea! I got food poisoning or something like that. I spent the next 3 hours doubled over in pain. Damn Wendy's! For a few hours I swore off fast food restaurants and their shoddy standards, but then when I woke up the next day I got hungry and got some Mc Donald's.

Work and Friendship
Tomorrow, that superjock that I call my sister will be paddling a dragonboat across some lake in Guelph. Kick some ass Jenn!

I, on the other hand, am chilling in Waterloo this weekend. I think Christine and I are finally going to go to Victoria Park (it's about time right Kev?).

On Thursday, Classwave had to fire some employees. That was just kind of weird for me. I mean, I know that these things happen from time to time in a business, but I didn't really experience very much of that at IBM (which is the only other place I've worked). What did happen at IBM was that my office mate, Gabrielle, who was a contract worker, didn't have his contract renewed at the end of his term. He was gone before I knew it and no one really mentioned it. It was like "see ya", and then everyone just turned around and started working again like nothing happened. It was more of the same at Classwave, but I think some people were really affected by seeing their collegues leave. I think it'll all get back to normal in a day or two.

I'm not sure what I'm saying. Maybe just that it is a shame. I know that these things happen in a business. It's just that if you work at a place for a long time, you like to feel that the people that you work with are more than just co-workers. You'd like to think that they'd be the kind of people that would say, "If he's going then I'm going too!", but I suppose this happens very rarely. It's not personal, it's just business. People at work may become your friends, but they're still there to work, and very rarely does it develop much further than that. I think everyone understands that. I guess I just hope that if it ever happens to me, people don't just turn around and keep working like nothing happened.

On Friday, I had lunch with two of the oldest friends I have (old with respect to the time I've known them, not their ages): Amina and Snehal. I've been seeing Amina semi-regularily because she works at my building, but I haven't seen Snehal in ages. I guess we kind of lost contact after high school. Both of them are really good friends of mine though. I get the feeling that even if I didn't see them for 10 years, we could get together and it would be like old times. It really makes me think about the difference between friends and acquaintances.
