It’s been a pretty eventful couple of weeks for me. Among the highlights: midterms over, summerfest fun, co-op for next term is decided and more technical speaking.
Midterms were over last Friday. It was a totally hectic time for me. I think it went pretty well though. On Thursday the 13th (right in the middle of midterms), I emerged victorious at the faculty level Sandford Fleming technical speaking competition. It was quite fun actually and I got to meet some interesting people. They took us to the University Club afterwards and the steak there was excellent (beats the hell out of the frozen foods and sandwiches that I’m used to!).
I was just totally exhausted after my last midterm on Saturday at the absolutely obscenely early time of 8:30. I rested for a bit and then it was time for fun, fun, fun! Summerfest fun began at 9, but first, we finally gave the people what they wanted and had a little pre-summerfest party at our place. It was a damn good time. I was pretty surprised that we were able to fit so many people into our house. Thanks to all the people who came and fulfilled my secret ulterior motive of getting lots of free food and alcohol. :)
Summerfest itself was just as good and we had fun into the wee hours of the night. The next day I was pretty tired, but my sister (who was at summerfest too) and I went back to Toronto since it was father’s day and all. Surprisingly when I got back, I was completely relaxed and well rested. I actually thought, “cool…. exhaustion + fun, fun, fun != dead tired”. I need to do less programming.

In other news, it’s been confirmed that next term, I will be plying my trade in the beautiful and obscenely cold city of Ottawa. I’m going to go to OTI, the creators of my favorite Java IDE, VisualAge. The funny thing is, I have absolutely no idea what I’ll be doing there. I’m not too worried though, I’ve heard good things about them.
You know, going to school in the summer isn’t that bad. I kind of like it, but it still doesn’t compare to not going to school in the summer. My sister is going to sunny California this week to go to my cousin Kenneth’s wedding. It’s a shame I won’t be able to go too, but congratulations Kenneth! I’m sure he’s going to be so happy.
