I checked out my first
Watpub yesterday with Renee and Stanley. It was pretty good. I might go more often.
Looks like they finally
caught the DC sniper. It might be a bit premature since they don't know for sure if he's the one, but I'm sure people in the DC area feel more relieved.
Here's something for
Derek and
Kevin
This just seems
silly.
I was pretty worried when I read
this from
Derek's site. Geek syndrome? I'm a computer engineer and Christine is a pure mathematician! Fortunately, I only got a 17 on their test, which is supposed to be normal.

So, I'm biking home today, pretty much the same as I do everyday. It's not very far, only 10 minutes or so, but I prefer it to walking. When I was still in the OTI parking lot, something odd happened. I was standing on the pedals and peddling pretty hard when I just kind of spazzed. My foot missed the pedal and my balance got thrown off. I accidentally turned the handlebars all the way to the right. That was not good. When the wheel was about perpendicular to my direction of motion I just went flying over the handlebars. That was very very bad. I didn't even have time to think, but I remember feeling terrified because my head was going straight for the pavement. And stupid me, I was not wearing a helmet. So I was pretty much screwed right? Luckily for me, volleyball came to the rescue. Good ol' volleyball. I played volleyball for a few years in high school and learned the fundamentals of the game. Those fundamentals include proper diving so that when you dive you don't bash your head in or scrape your knees. With no time to react consciously, I did a perfect volleyball dive, where you pull your neck and legs back and extend your chest. I ended up sliding on my chest on the pavement for about 2 metres. Again, luckily for me, I'm wearing my thick winter jacket already, so no damage there (Ottawa's stupid cold weather finally works out to my advantage!). I was just lying on the ground for a while, totally amazed that I wasn't hurt.
Pascal later remarked, "wow, you actually learned something useful in high school."
