A while ago, I was having a conversation with Derek when I somehow became aware of the fact that he didn't know who created Java.
"How could you not know that?! Doesn't everyone know that?"
We asked around a bit. Apparently, almost no one knows. We didn't take a random sample of the population either. We asked people that were around: Waterloo electrical and computer engineers. Still, hardly anyone knew who did it. I was pretty surprised.
I know who created Java though. It was this guy.
That picture was taken from the back of a conference centre while the man himself, James Gosling, was giving the keynote address. I skipped class and went to a Java conference with Mike She today. Heh heh, I'm such a geek. It was pretty good though.
